The purpose of this study was to see if useful information can be extracted from the words people were saying at a specific time, to predict stock market behavior. The ES Journal is a thread in a forum at www.elitetrader.com for traders of the S&P 500 futures Contract. It was started in march of 2006 and, at the time of this study, had over 34000 posts. This makes it is one of the most popular threads on the forum. Unfortunately I do not have access to OHCL data for the ES, however, I do have access to data for the SPY ETF so this study will plot the frequency of posts plotted against the S&P 500 ETF.
